The Cape Cod National Seashore breaks here at Nauset Harbor. Behind us, to the north across the inlet, was the site of Henry Beston’s ‘Outermost House,’ and in between lay the promise of large fish. Unfortunately on this day in October 2008, it was only the promise. It was a 3-mile hike round-trip in the sand to get there, and it was worth every step.
